OnMe - Real people, real connections
Overview
OnMe is a cross-platform mobile app dedicated to the lonely residents of Metro Vancouver. It allows the user to order anyone inside the current restaurant a food or drink item based on their table and seat number. It was created by D3 BCIT students as our 3rd semester final project. The proof of concept was presented to 200 people, including students, faculty, and industry experts.
Problem
Vancouver is known as a lonely city due to its individualistic culture, which makes it difficult to meet new people. Research indicates that residents who live in Vancouver struggle to find romantic connections. Although dating apps such a Tinder and Bumble are popular, it requires the user to find a match and try to make a connection online. However, most users are disappointed with this experience. OnMe's solution is to find a way to make the connection instant.
Development Process
The OnMe team consisted of 4 designers and 2 developers. As part of the development team, we created documentation on Figma on how to name and create OnMe's components. The documentation also highlights who does which components and pages. We used this in order to plan out the development process and to ensure we distributed the workload evenly.
Results
This project was presented to approximately 200 people, including students, faculty, and industry experts. We went through the design and develpment process. Below is a video of a screen recording of what a user would see when using OnMe.
